Grass is Greener?
Did all our problems disappear when we left behind normal life to travel in an RV? It’s easy to believe that a different lifestyle can produce unicorns and rainbows. We were hoping so. It sure doesn’t help that most people sharing on social media tend to focus on their highlight reel. This isn’t wrong, it can just create the illusion of a problem-free life.
RV Life Problems
A problem-free life would be nice, but it doesn’t exist. Choosing a travel-oriented nomadic lifestyle created a whole new set of problems in our lives. We have the problem of learning how to cook in a tiny kitchen rather than the problem of trying to find the energy to cook after another long day at work. We have the problem of trying to find a gas station big enough to fit our 50-foot rig instead of the problem of five o’clock traffic.
Problems are Inevitable
The good news is that the problems we are facing now are better problems. We have come to understand that problems are inevitable, so the best we can hope for is the ones that come along with a life aligned with our values. This is going to look different for everyone. We are choosing the issues that come with owning less, traveling more, spending more time with each other, and more time outside. The hurdles can feel big sometimes, but the payoff is worth it.
